Sorry for taking so long to respond.
The setup.exe will only allow you to do the initial installation.
It won't install it on your Hardrive like using setup for Ubuntu.
You still have to reboot in order to install the full working version
of Debian on to a partition or a full HD.
Debian does work well enough (not using setup.exe) in VMware, or another
virtual machine. The only real unfortunate aspect of having it run in a VM
enviroment is the lack of access to your Hardware such as your video card.
