That is a bit of a poisonous download, though, since depending on the platform a
nd depending on the game, your download might not be self-sufficient.
Many games from Steam and Epic have the Steam or Epic launchers as runtime depen
dencies, for example. Many of those games also need some sort of online validati
on in order to run. In this regard, the PCGamingwiki is a good place to visit in
order to learn if you download is self-sufficient.
I don t buy many games anymore, but when I do I tend to pick Zoom-platform or Go
g games just because they are guaranteed to be runnable completely off-grid. I t
hink itch.io is also a good source but I have never used it myself.
