SNES was fine but modern Sega Genesis homebrews as of late prove the Sega Genesi
s was a total beast.
For example, the Secret of Mana games for SNES are actual classics, for a reason
, but things such as The Secret of the Four Winds are pretty much the same thing
on the Genesis, but they look better and you can aim your ranged weapons proper
ly. In fact high level Secret of the Four Winds characters aim and shoot as if t
hey were human machineguns if you manage them well.
Many modern homebrews are cheaters and include a lot of extra logic in the game
cartridge, though.
