As a software developer, honestly I am a bit scared of the job market when we ca
n pretty much develop things like that. Still, it seems to me like it doesn't a
lways get everything right, but I imagine AI tools will keep getting better to t
he point where it could be very easy to use AI to develop a program by asking it
like that.
Although I think AI tools are useful, I really didn't expect to see the day when
my job could potentially be replaced by automation. I'm a bit over 20 years to
retirement, and I'm nervous about my job prospects until then, especially with
layoffs being as common as they are at tech companies. In hindsight, if I had k
nown all this when I was starting college, maybe I would have tried to choose a
degree path for a more stable profession.
I think it would be great to win the lottery so I can retire early, but I've hea
rd the chances of that are less than being struck by lightning.
