I don't really see the problem with using a GUI with a server machine..? I use L
inux Mint XFCE on my BBS machine. I'd be alright using a distro without a GUI f
or it (and I've been using Linux for years, and I feel comfortable with the comm
and line), but I feel like a GUI has some advantages. The main reason is that I
can have multiple console windows open and visible at the same time - For my BB
S, I tend to have the Synchronet UNIX monitor on screen as well as a console win
dow following the Synchronet log so I can see log messages go by. Also, although
I like vim, sometimes I like using a GUI-based text editor. Recently, I've als
o been using Cursor AI for help with some development & debugging tasks, and I b
elieve Cursor is only available as a GUI app (which is based on Visual Studio Co
de) - though it's possible they might have a version that works simply from the
command line.
