I knew a guy that when he would play a record he would always play it wet. He
would actually take a washcloth that was wet, and run it over the entire
surface of the record making sure the surface was good and wet (lots of water
in the grooves) before playing the record. He swore that it eliminated pops *
hiss, etc. He was into classical music, and was a real music snob (he thought
rock music was just noise), but whenever I listened to records he played I
couldn't hear any pops hiss, etc. so maybe he had something? Have you or
anyone else ever heard of doing this with records?
