Hello all --
I've been a Tech for over 20 years, and partly due to lack of time and lack of m
oney never moved beyond this. An amazing friend and ham gave me a Yaesu FT-900
recently, and I've started to play with it -- listening only of course. I don't
have a decent enough antenna to really pick-up much, but I've started reading t
he manual and studying for my General. I really want to use it for POTA and jus
t chatting with folks in the evening as I'm able to.
Even though this rig is 30 years old I've surprisingly talked to a few folks who
use this as one of their primary rigs. Anyone else? Maybe if I can learn this
and save some pennies I can eventually move up to something newer -- but for no
w this will be what I learn HF with. Thanks for any tips or guidance.
