The problem is, if somebody breaks into your home, how do you know they just
want to steal some of your stuff? Maybe they want to rape your wife or
daughter? What then? Just give them a good scare and hope that makes them
stop? You are right, shooting somebody IS excessive unless you're in fear of
serious harm to yourself, or another human being. While having a CCW doesn't
turn me into a LEO, if I see a guy raping a chick, or beating her bloody, am
I supposed to just call 911 and sit back and watch the show? I don't think
so. But then everyone has to decide for themselves how much and what kind of
involvment in society they want for themselves.
