Yes, I served aboard Carriers, 4 of them.
I was in ComCarDiv-3 .
All the gear I wrote about is Old Tech to you I suppose.
Never heard of the gear that you were familiar with 
The R-390 was the newest RX in use when I left the service in 1962.
