Back in the1970's on 2Meters 3or 4 local Amateure had teletype BBS's each on
different frequencies that other hams could sign on to.
They were using RTTY (Radio Teletype).
I had a Video Terminal and could sign on those BBS'sor just read what was on the
frequency when others used it.
