I used to think nothing I had needed transcoding, but I realized it was still tr
anscoding some files. If Plex detects a low-bandwidth connection, even in your
own network (perhaps over wifi if it's not getting a great connection), Plex cou
ld start to transcode to save bandwidth.
One of the other Plex Pass features is being able to detect & skip intros for TV
shows, which I find handy. Also, if you have a TV tuner, you can use Plex as a
DVR to record shows with Plex Pass - I use that to record Jeopardy & a couple o
ther things.
