It's as much tradition as anything else. "Back in the day" all BBS
software automatically put you in bottom posting mode. In fact, I can't
remember very many BBS programs that would even let you SELECT a top-post
mode. It really just makes sense to put your responses AFTER (or below)
that to which you are responding. After all, how many times do you answer
the question BEFORE it's asked?
