Though most of us "logic-minded" folk are unlikely to admit it, even a
foundation of science requires an explicit investment in faith, in that since
all our "truths" are hypotheses, we must have faith that our data are accurate.
With few exceptions, our "empirical" data are, by definition, subject to human
error and misinterpretation.
The difference between our faith and theological faith is that the man of
logic-based faith has the ability (and oft times responsibility) to admit that
his faith may be in error, which leads to growth and further discovery, whereas
the man of religion-based faith must never waver, lest he be condemned.
